Elizabeth Blackwell is awarded her M.D. by the Geneva Medical College of Geneva becoming the first woman to receive a medical degree in the United States.

Elizabeth Blackwell was a British-born physician, notable as the first woman to receive a medical degree in the United States, as well as the first woman on the UK Medical Register. She graduated first in her class.
